Green light for the creation of the new sustainable project which will make it possible to avoid the emission of approximately 26.000 tons of CO2 per year. Agreement between Eni and local institutions for interventions in the area in the field of energy efficiency and environmental sustainability

Eni, new photovoltaic plant in Porto Torres

Eni starts the construction of a new photovoltaic plant in Sardinia, within the industrial center of Porto Torres. The plant will have a peak installed capacity of 31 MW (Mega Watts).

The project, which has obtained the Single Authorization for construction and operation from the Sardinia Region, will be built in the areas inside the Porto Torres Site of National Interest, redeveloped by Syndial, Eni's environmental company, as part of the environmental rehabilitation project of the industrial site.

Approximately 51% of the annual energy produced, equal to 70 GWh (GigaWatthour), will be self-consumed by the companies present on the industrial site and will allow avoid the emission of about 26.000 tons/year of CO2The project is part of Eni's objectives defined by the regional energy plan and the national energy strategy in terms of decarbonisation and the contribution of renewable energies to the energy mix.

The Porto Torres photovoltaic project is part of the Progetto Italia initiatives, launched by Eni in 2016, and will be completed by the end of 2019. This is the second plant built in Sardinia in industrial areas owned by the group after that of Assemini (26 MW), the construction of which was completed in 2018.

Eni has defined with the Municipality of Porto Torres and in agreement with the local institutions an agreement with the intention of creating a plan of interventions on the territory in the field of energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.
