Renewable energy: Sorgenia launches the challenge to the residential market. Objective: 2 million customers

The possibility of install a photovoltaic system on the roof of your house, self-producing energy and becoming its owner after 20 years. The (complimentary) distribution of energy saving products for household appliances: from StandbyStop for PCs and televisions, to the possibility of checking the consumption of each household appliance in real time and knowing how much each single action affects the bill. And finally, the opportunity, with just one euro more on your monthly bill, to join theClean Energy initiative: or the guarantee, through a control scheme certified by the international body DNV, whereby every single kWh purchased by the customer is covered by an equal supply of energy from renewable sources. These are the novelties, in the name ofeco-sustainability and economic savings as well as consumptionproposed by the company Sorgenia, born 12 years ago and looking for an increasingly important slice of the market, focusing on respect for the environment and customer protection.

The goal – represented in a innovative advertising campaign presented today and which will air from mid-October – is to reach 1,5 million new customers by 2016, compared to the current half million, thus bringing its users to 2 million in the next five years.

To do this, Sorgenia offers a 275 million euro investment and points to enter the residential market, four years after the liberalization in the energy and gas sector also for family homes.
Sorgenia thus wants to become the first Italian company in the sector to combine the commercial offer with concrete energy efficiency objectives, proposing formulas and tariffs that aim to reduce spending and consumption, and making simple tools available free of charge to all new residential customers that help reduce waste.

THE SOLE MIO PROJECT – FOR PHOTOVOLTAIC AT HOME
The initiative calls for Sorgenia to install photovoltaic panels (solar energy) free of charge on the roof of the building on loan for use for 20 years. The project responds to the principle of distributed generation, i.e. the construction of plants that are close to the energy consumption point, with significant advantages also in economic terms. In fact, this system potentially presents itself as a real revolution: it is indeed possible to save up to 50% costs in the bill as Sorgenia gives away all the energy produced by the plant which is consumed at the same time. In the initial phase, the company has already launched the initiative in Lazio, Liguria, Marche and Puglia.

PRODUCTS FOR INTELLIGENT CONSUMPTION
PC StandbyStop: it is a multi-socket that allows you to interrupt the power supply of all computer-related equipment (printer, speakers, fax, monitor) simply by switching it off and thus avoiding waste from standby mode. The energy saved in a year would be around 176 kWh, ie 6-7% of the average consumption of an Italian family.
TV StandbyStop: same principle as the pc, but with devices linked to the tv (decoder, video game console, dvd player), i only switch off the tv with the remote control. The savings in this case would be equal to 10% of the average annual consumption (-265 kWh).
Wattmeter: with this tool it is possible to check how much each individual appliance consumes in real time.
EnergGenius: innovative device that allows you to monitor all the electricity consumption in your home or office in real time. It is possible to observe, at any moment of the day or over a prolonged period of time, how much individual appliances and the individual actions we perform on a daily basis (switching on, switching off, etc.) affect spending.
