Enel Green Power wins tender in Brazil: 30-year concession for two hydroelectric plants

Enel Green Power has won a public tender in Brazil which provides for the thirty-year concession for the management of two hydroelectric plants already operational, which have a total installed capacity of 40 MW. The two plants, Paranapanema, in the state of São Paulo, and Mourão I in the state of Parana, are capable of generating almost 270 GWh per year.

According to the tender regulations, the hydroelectric plants will allocate 70% of the energy produced to a pool of distribution companies and the remaining 30% to the free market. EGP will invest more than 160 million reais (approximately US$40 million) for this concession and will be responsible for managing the facilities for the next 30 years.

The award of this concession consolidates EGP's position as one of the main renewables players in Brazil, where the company already manages 93 MW of hydro, 313 MW of wind and another 12 MW of solar. This operation marks a further step in EGP's strategy aimed at implementing a technologically balanced portfolio in the country.
