Enel Green Power: 34 MW contract in Australia

Enel to invest about 42 million US dollars in the construction of the plant, which is expected to start in the first half of 2019

The Enel Group, through its subsidiary for renewables Enel Green Power Australia has been awarded a 15-year 34 MW contract with the Australian state of Victoria.

The agreement provides for EGP Australia to produce energy and green certificates generated by the Cohuna Solar Farm solar park.

The contract was awarded through a public tender for renewables (“reverse auction”) launched last year by the State of Victoria. The project is located in Gannawarra County, Victoria, approximately 8 kilometers south of the town of Cohuna, and will be developed in cooperation with local firm Leeson Group.

"With this milestone, Enel Green Power takes another step forward in its growth strategy in Australia,” commented Antonio Cammisecra, head of Enel Green Power (EGP). “The Cohuna solar project will contribute to the achievement of the State of Victoria's ambitious goals in the field of renewables, in line with Enel Green Power's global vision."

Enel will invest about 42 million dollars in the solar plant, construction of which is expected to start in the first half of 2019. It is expected to start operating by the end of 2019 and the energy produced will be sold as part of an energy supply agreement aged 15 (“Support Agreement“) with the State of Victoria. The plant will be connected to the local distribution network through the substation for the Cohuna area.

The Cohuna solar park, which will consist of approximately 87.000 bifacial panels, is expected to generate up to 77 GWh/year, avoiding the emission of approximately 70.200 tons of CO into the atmosphere2 every year.
