“Kolskaya is our northernmost plant, part of a global portfolio that extends from beyond the Arctic Circle to southernmost areas of Africa and spans the globe from east to west, from Australia to the westernmost part of the United States, in the most diverse and challenging climatic conditions,” he commented Antonio Cammisecra, Head of Enel Green Power. “With the opening of the second construction site in Russia, we are taking another step towards strengthening our portfolio of renewables in the country. Looking ahead, we will be committed to actively seeking new opportunities for renewables in Russia, while continuing to develop and build current projects, strengthening and enhancing our presence and expertise in the area with the aim of building a low-carbon presence in the Village."

Enel Russia has been awarded the Kolskaya wind project (201 MW) in the tender promoted by the Russian government in 2017 for the construction of 1,9 GW of wind capacity, together with the Azov wind project (90 MW), currently under construction and expected to enter in service at the end of 2020. The Kolskaya wind farm is expected to enter service by the end of 2021 and will have the capacity to generate about 750 GWh per year, avoiding the emission of about 600.000 tons of CO into the atmosphere2. The wind farm will consist of 57 turbines over an area of ​​257 hectares.
