E-bike, partnership between Atala and Estra

The historic Italian bicycle company, Atala, has entered into an alliance with Estra, which operates in the distribution of natural gas and electricity.

Sul site of Estra, in the section dedicated to e-bikes, it is already possible to select the retailer based on your location. The agreement is currently active only in central Italy, therefore you can read the characteristics of the bikes and see the photos, but then you must necessarily use the map to be able to identify it nearest store in order to reach it.

Le e-bike have undoubtedly broadened the potential number of cyclists, allowing anyone – through the use of assisted pedaling – to use the bicycle in the city and in the mountains and to physical activity with beneficial effects on your health andtechnology. We can now say that it has become a fashion. Market data confirms the golden age for bicycle sales with pedal assisted. May the opportunity become a driving force for the sustainable mobility and for renewable energy it is a hope that can be read entirely in the words of the two signatories.

Francesco Macri, President of Stra, “the partnership with Atala represents a further step forward taken by Estra in this ambitious path, consistent with the principles of Corporate Social Responsibility which see Estra engaged in the forefront with initiatives to protect the territories and support citizens in their daily lives”.

For Eng. Massimo Panzeri, CEO of Atala SpA, "all sectors of society should support the concept of sustainable mobility, as Atala does, as a matter of orientation towards more responsible behaviour". It is no coincidence that the values on emissions (of CO2, NOx, PM10) avoided thanks to the production of energy from renewables (Estra 2017 Sustainability Report) recorded a significant increase between 2016 and 2017, equal to approximately 110%, going from 15.445 to 24.708 tons of harmful waste for the environment not emitted.

Furthermore, there are many initiatives carried out by the Group to protect sustainable development. This is the case with "Energetically”, a project launched by Estra and Legambiente which involved 771 schools and about 50 children and young people from all over Italy, as well as more than 1.000 teachers. The Project envisages the free sharing of an online platform, complete with educational paths and playful activities, in order to make pupils aware of the issues ofclean energy, the energy saving and introduce them to the advantages of smart living and new technologies to protect the environment.

Another initiative that saw the direct involvement of Estra is dedicated to environmental sustainability issues; it's about the PMIR project (Project Manager for Sustainability Report/Integrated Report), defined and promoted by Estra and funded by the Program Erasmus + 2014/2020 Action KA2 "Cooperation projects for innovation and the exchange of good practices". The initiative, to which it will be possible to apply by 28 February 2019, consists of a training course open in Italy to 20 candidates selected at a national level, consisting of a 6-month theoretical part with MOOC videos and webinars on topics such as Company, the sustainability report, communication, data and project management, followed by a final test to verify the knowledge acquired. The 10 students with the most brilliant results will have access to the second step of ten-day on-the-job training at a European company, partner of the Project, with expertise in sustainability reporting.

And it is always related to the environment loan agreement recently stipulated by Estra with Intesa Sanpaolo SpA (Lending Bank) and Banca IMI SpA (Organizing Bank) for a total amount of Euro 50 million maturing on 31 December 2023. The innovative aspect of the transaction is that the financing conditions (interest rate) will be all the more favorable the more the Company will be able to achieve a series of objectives in terms of environmental policies.
