The measures against accidents in the factory will be tightened and the company activity immediately suspended: it is the first step in the construction of the social pact - Both the premier and the unions are satisfied

Draghi-unions, the first agreement for the Pact on job security

“A very useful meeting to establish a working method”. Thus the Prime Minister, Mario Draghi, defined the meeting on Monday afternoon with i sindacati, during which – in view of the “Social pact” hoped for by the Premier for the relaunch of the country – there was discussion of job security, but also of investments related to National recovery and resilience plan.

As regards the first issue, an agreement was found on some immediately feasible interventions. For example, the review and enhancement of the system of employee training of entrepreneurs. The secretary of Uil, Pierpaolo Bombardieri, then announced that the government has undertaken to issue a decree for suspend the activity of companies where violations of safety standards are found, to give them the opportunity to comply.

The number one of the CISL, Luigi Sbarra, let it be known instead that the agreement was also reached on the establishment of a unique and national database to facilitate the work of the Inail and Asl regional inspectors.

But Draghi and the trade union delegations also talked about something else. In view of expiration of the freeze on layoffs for different sectors next 31 October, the workers' representatives asked to prolong Cig Covid, waiting for the reform (in the pipeline) of the social shock absorbers, in addition to those of active policies, the revenue authorities e of pensions (the latter particularly urgent, given that Quota 31 expires on 100 December and the government has no intention of renewing it).

On all these topics - says Maurizio Landini, secretary of the CGIL - the government has undertaken to convene in the next few days other meetings with trade unions to enter into the merits of the issues. The next summit, however, should be devoted to defining a protocol on the management of investments connected to the Pnrr.

Finally, Landini confirms that during the summit there was no mention of the minimum wage, a measure supported by the Democratic Party and the 5 Star Movement but opposed by both Confindustria and the unions, because it reduces the margins for bargaining.
