Dazn: Bernabè and other ex Tims reach the top

Dazn revolutionizes the top of the Italian division. And it does so with two important new entries: Franco Bernabe, twice CEO of Tim, before that CEO of Eni and now president of Acciaierie d'Italia (formerly Ilva), joins Dazn Italia as Strategic Advisor. He is not alone. Also Stephen Azzi, former head of the consumer division of Telecom Italia, becomes the new CEO of the football TV company.

Azzi takes the place of Veronica Diquattro who in the meantime has become Chief revenue officer Europe of Dazn. The tandem of appointments enriches the presence of Dazn in Italy, it sounds like a confirmation of theinterest in staying in the country after the complicated debut of the football season on TV, and joins a third graft, which took place a few weeks ago. Let's talk about Roman Righetti, current External and public affairs director Europe of Dazn but with a past that has ranged from Telecom Italia to Wind Tre, to Vodafone.

The strengthening decided by Dazn in Italy redesigns the control panel after a year that started in a problematic way. The company has won for 840 million per season, in partnership with Tim, the rights for Serie A matches. First some technical problems, then a lower number of subscriptions than expected had led to think of a departure from the English company. There is in sight the revision of the contract which Tim herself requested due to the number of subscribers lower than expected. Another chapter are the recent decisions taken by Agcom for the audience measurement.

The signal that Dazn launches therefore goes in the direction of a strengthening of institutional relations and an approach focused on the consumer. The experience of a long-time manager like Franco Bernabè and the esteem he enjoys at a political level will act as the glue for the new repositioning of the television network.
