Daylight saving time: starts on Sunday 26 March

In the night between Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 March we will sleep one hour less. The annual summer time appointment is back, starting at 2.00 on 26 March.

We will therefore have to move the hands of the clocks forward one hour. Despite the lost hour of sleep and the initial problems of adapting to our biorhythm, there is however good news. The transition from solar time to summer time involves an extra hour of light. Not only that: we will use less energy for lighting and therefore we will also save a little on the cost of the electricity bill. So not all bad comes to hurt.

Summer time has existed in Italy for 101 years and in particular since 1916. Today a quarter of the world's population lives in countries that adopt summer time and since 1996 its arrival has taken place with the same times and methods among all the nations of the Union European. The only one among the large countries not to comply is Russia which instead abolished it in 2014.
