From polyurethane the new designer bags

Fashion and design, made in Italy is enriched with new, young stylists and innovative materials. It is the case of Matteo Pellegrino and its new line of polyurethane clutch handcrafted through a manufacturing process he devised himself. “A product halfway between design and fashion with a strong artistic connotation, where colors always mix in a unique and distinctive way. The genuine leather interior is designed to create a contrast with the synthetic material and emphasizes its value, as well as the absence of stitching”, specifies the young designer. The final effect is pleasant and the combination of materials and colors is striking for its originality.

“It took me years to develop the processes necessary to obtain a finished product, and I am finally satisfied with the result achieved. It is a process resulting from countless experiments with polyurethane foam which is a rather complex material to work by hand, but with incredible potential. The uniqueness of the product is also the result of the influence of the school of Gaetano Pesce, and fashion is certainly the area of design that is most receptive and sensitive to this type of solicitation”.

Matteo Pellegrino is 33 years old and grew up at the school of Gaetano Pesce and his Fish design. Sculptor, designer and architect, Pesce has linked his name to prestigious Made in Italy brands such as B&B and Cassina. But the young Matteo also collaborated on the Mendinismi collections of Alessandro Mendini and Native Bell gods Campana brothers. In fashion he has collaborated with companies such as Mila Schon and in 2012 he founded her studio in Milan, working on interior projects for hotels and private residences and on objects for various companies. This year the leap to New York where he moved to continue the collaboration with Gaetano Pesce and carry on new individual projects working across design, art and fashion.
