Vodafone and Tim fined for informative text messages. This was decided by the Antitrust (Competition and Market Guarantor Authority), which at the end of two separate investigative proceedings established that the two telecommunications companies have carried out abuse of dominant position on the market for corporate information text messages
The Antitrust fined Vodafone and Tim for almost 10 million in total, at the end of two separate investigative proceedings which concluded on 13 December last. “In both cases, the operators – says a note from the Guarantor – have adopted conduct capable of compromising the competitive ability of competitors active in this market".
Due to the seriousness of the conduct, the Authority has therefore decided to impose, in detail, pecuniary administrative sanctions to the companies Vodafone Italia SpA and Telecom Italia SpA equal to €5.843.814 and €3.717.988, respectively. The news came on the same day as that, relating to 28 day bills, according to which Agcom has established that the four mobile telephone operators will not only have to pay fines for the illegal practice, but also reverse the undue sums received from customers in their next bills.
