Circa 300 taxi drivers between Milan and Rome offer themselves as volunteers to ensure - in these hours of emergency that is involving the whole country - the free transport of doctors and nurses. An initiative of FREE NOW (platform for urban mobility) in partnership with Q8.
Called "Heroes", the initiative offers healthcare personnel free taxi rides to and from hospital facilities. To use the service, after having created their own account on the FREE NOW app, healthcare personnel can select the "HEROES" option to request their own taxi on the spot. Once on board, you will simply be asked to show your order card or any document proving your qualification as a doctor/nurse.
At the end of the ride, no amount will be charged to the customer, just as no commission will be applied to the taxi driver. Thanks to Q8 support, moreover, volunteer taxi drivers will receive a contribution in Q8TicketFuel, Q8's digital fuel vouchers, for each journey made and dedicated to the "HEROES". “We are proud to support this FREE NOW initiative and thus to give our contribution in favor of healthcare personnel, on the front line in this emergency.”, comments Giuseppe Zappalà, CEO of Kuwait Petroleum Italia.
"We thank and express our sincere appreciation for the solidarity shown by the taxi drivers who, in this situation of collective difficulty, make themselves available to the community by making their precious contribution, even at a time when their earnings are undergoing significant declines ”, says Ottavia Marotta, Public Affairs Manager of FREE NOW Italy.
The "HEROES" service starts from Milan and Rome and could subsequently be extended to other cities where FREE NOW is present.
