This morning, at the headquarters of the General Command, an agreement was signed Memorandum of Understanding between the Carabinieri and Poste Italiane Spa., signed by the Commander General, Gen. CA Salvatore Luongo, and by the General Manager, Dr. Joseph Lasco.
The agreement aims to strengthen and continue the fruitful collaboration, started in 2001, in order to ensure an increasingly effective and supportive service for the community, in line with the common objectives of proximity to the citizen and high reliability of the services offered.
The protocol provides for a close cooperation in the following areas:
- monitoring of construction sites activated at POSTE offices, with particular reference to compliance with the regulations on labor placement, social security and workplace safety;
- supervision of the transport and goods delivery chain, with reference to distribution districts and logistics centres connected to POSTE, in order to verify compliance with sector regulations;
- training activities for POSTE Managers on employer directives;
- welfare for the benefit of the personnel of the Arma.
Today's protocol renews and consolidates a synergy already concretely demonstrated during the Covid-19 pandemic emergency, when the Carabinieri and Poste Italiane actively collaborated to protect the elderly, ensuring the collection of pension benefits at post offices and subsequent home delivery. The signing of this memorandum of understanding between the Carabinieri and Poste Italiane confirms the strategic role of the two institutions in supporting the country and reaffirms their vocation to proximity to the most fragile territories and categories, united by a widespread presence of Carabinieri Station Commands and Post Offices throughout the national territory.
