The Coin department stores are back in Italian hands. The Anglo-Saxon fund BC Partners, which had taken over Coin in 2013 together with OVS, sold its shareholding for 70 million to the warehouse managers, organized in a consortium - Centenary - led by CEO Stefano Beraldo and made up of 25% by 23 Coin managers.
In this operation, Coin's managers are supported by a series of small entrepreneurs, with shareholdings varying between 5 and 15%, among which stand out Alessandro Bastagli, owner of Lineapiù, Enzo De Gasperi (owner of Edg), Jonathan Kafri ( hotelier) and Giorgio Rossi (real estate).
After taking over the ownership of Coin, the department store managers said they were convinced they could relaunch the historic brand present in many Italian cities and aimed at high-end customers.
