Innovation is a sine qua non of economic and social progress. In the last 10 years – in a context of strong global competition and growing scarcity of resources – the emergence of production centers in Asia, Africa and Latin America has revolutionized the competitive horizon for low and medium technology products and has substantially increased the competitive prize of the marketing of advanced products.
Over the next 10-20 years these changes will intensify. The "knowledge economy" and the so-called "Third Industrial Revolution", induced by growing digitization and new technologies, are creating and will continue to create further areas of opportunity and comparison for companies and country systems.
