A bar of chocolate to sweeten a moment of our day, to satisfy our palate, for the pleasure of a small transgression? To go without fail Company of Chocolate, an association of expert consumers and chocolate enthusiasts, founded in 1995 in Perugia by Eugenio Guarducci, Roberto Bava and twenty-two other members, traveled around Italy in search of the best chocolate bars and awarded the 2021 Golden Tablet award to the best products on the market. The result was a veritable guide to reasoned buying for enthusiasts and gourmands.

To give a score, the jurors referred to the appearance of the chocolate, to the sound it produces when it breaks, to its scent, to the physical aspect it has during the tasting from which its processing stands out, to the taste and aftertaste it leaves .

According to the rules of the competition they reached the final i chocolates that have exceeded eighty-five centsi subdivided by categories: dark and origins, milk and milk with a high cocoa percentage, gianduja, flavored and spiced, spreads, covered fruit, pralines, cremini and raw chocolates.

The winners for 2021 are results:

Best Dark Chocolate Award: ex aequo Dark Criollo 80% of the Domori company of None (TO); GranCacao 73% by Slitti (PI)

Flavored Chocolate Award: Ex aequo: Refined with Fennel – Sabadì (Modica) and White Caramel and salt from Hawaii – T'a Milano

Special prize Best 100% chocolate: Ocumare di Cata 100%, Sabadì (Modica)

Dark Chocolate of Origin Awarde: Chuao 70% of Domori – None (TO)

Premium milk chocolate with cocoa > 40%: ex aequo Slitti with 45% Lattenero and Maglio (Maglie – Lecce) with 55% Cuyagua.

 Spreadable Cream Award: ex aequo the Riccosa 51% hazelnuts from Slitti and Hazelnuts and Cocoa by Marco Colzani (Carate Brianza).

Milk Chocolate Award: Tuscan Brown 32% – Amedei

Premium Milk Chocolate with Cocoa Minus 40%: Ex aequo: Lattenero 45% - Slitti and Cuyagua 55% - Maglio

Gianduja Award: Tourinot Maximo – Guido Gobino

Award Candied fruit and covered candied fruit: Covered orange fillets – Mallet

Prize Chocolates with filling: Tiramisù with mascarpone and coffee – Venchi

Praline Award: Olive Praline – Gardini

Raw Chocolate Award: Orange and marjoram - Sabadì

Cremini Award: Inca Maracaibo – Majani

International Chocolate Award: Heart of darkness 85% -marou chocolatiers.

The Compagnia del Cioccolato has been organizing courses for chocolate tasters (for the figure of professional tasters) for twenty years; Evenings of tasting and pairing of wines and spirits; Study and update conferences; Thematic events. It also publishes a Guide with a specific analysis of the chocolates on sale in Italy and the Cocoa and Chocolate Notebooks, a dissemination tool on the various aspects of this world.

Its purpose is to involve the broadest range of those who experience cocoa as a psychological refuge "anyway interested in learning more for an immediate enjoyment of the irresistible food of the gods", but also the narrower range of conscious consumers who followed the great revolution in the gastronomic world and demand to enter the cocoa world in a specific way”.
