Cgia: tax burden on Italian companies is the highest in Europe but also beats Canada and the USA

The tax burden on Italian companies is not only the highest in Europe but also beats that of Canada, the United States and Japan. This is what emerges from an elaboration by the Cgia of Mestre which carried out an analysis on the data of the World Bank in the report "Doing Business 2011".

”If, as the President of Confindustria Squinzi rightly declares, the tax burden on Italian companies is higher than 68%, - notes Giuseppe Bortolussi, secretary of the Cgia of Mestre - compared to the EU average, our companies register a burden of taxes and contributions equal to 24,4 points more. However, nothing to do with the 39,4 points we discount more than Canadian companies and 31,3 more than those in the United Kingdom. Compared to US companies, on the other hand, our higher tax burden is 21,8 points, which drops to 20,4 when we compare ourselves with the German average, reaching 20 points when the comparison is made with the average figure affecting Japanese companies".

For 2012, warns Bertolussi, the risk is of a further tax increase between the introduction of the Imu, the upward adjustment of the regional Irpef surtaxes, an increase in excise duties on fuel and an increase in VAT. A little while ago, the introduction of the Ace and the reduction of the Irap were compared.
