Cdp: 2019 billion mobilized in 35, 2,4% of GDP

Last year Cassa Depositi e Prestiti has mobilized investments in Italy for 34,6 billion euros, giving a contribution equal to the 2,4% of the national GDP. This is what emerges from the group's first sustainability report, released on Tuesday.

Cdp points out in a note that last year, one year after the start of the business plan 2019-2021, demonstrates how "sustainability has now become one of the key elements of CDP's strategy and operations, in line with its ambition to become the driving force behind the country's sustainable development".

In detail, the Cassa supported more than 1.220 Municipalities, even small ones (26% had fewer than 2.000 inhabitants). At the company level, businesses who have benefited from the support of the CDP have been more than 20 thousand, and these operations generated an additional turnover along the production chains equal to 85 billion euros.

As far as the environmental and social benefits are concerned, thanks to the intervention of Cdp they have been redeveloped according to the highest standards of energy efficiency as well as 350 thousand cubic meters of land. The redevelopment of existing buildings and social housing interventions have made it possible to save land in the order of 50%, as well as supporting (creating or maintaining) more than 600 thousand jobs.

More than 5.800 families benefited from the social housing interventions and post-natural disaster works financed by the Cassa Depositi e Prestiti. In particular, last year Cdp built more than 1.500 social housing and 1.600 beds in student residences, financing even further 600 social infrastructures, including 365 schools.

Lastly, on the innovation front, the Cassa directly financed more than that 580 million investment in research and development companies, as well as acquiring the majority of Cdp Venture Capital Sgr, which has the objective of promoting and managing (directly and through funds) the creation of start-ups, investing up to one billion euros.
