Cdp invests over one billion euros for SMEs, infrastructure and social development

Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (Cdp) gave the start of new operations for a total value over one billion euros, intended for support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and finance strategic infrastructure for the territory. The decision was taken by the Board of Directors, chaired by Giovanni Gorno Tempini, on the proposal of the CEO and General Manager, Dario Scannapieco.

The new measures are in line with the 2025-2027 Strategic Plan and aim to modernize the local road network, improving the quality of life of citizens and promoting trade. Detail attention has been paid to the companies of the eight regions of the South – Abruzzo, Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Molise, Puglia, Sardinia and Sicily – with interventions aimed at facilitating their access to credit.

Support measures for the areas hit by the earthquake

During the meeting, the Board of Directors also resolved the deferral of mortgage payment for the Municipalities and Provinces of Central Italy affected by the seismic events of 2016-2017This provision, which will not result in the charging of new interest, was adopted in accordance with the provisions of the 2025 Budget Law.

This is a measure to facilitate the economic and financial recovery of local administrations still engaged in reconstruction and management of emergencies related to the earthquake.

New Funds for Social Housing and Business in Africa

In addition to the interventions on the national territory, the Council has deliberated a additional allocation of 150 million euros for the National Social Housing Fund (Fnas), managed by Cdp Real Asset SGR. The resources will be used for the development of new social housing projects, with particular attention to “Student Housing” for out-of-town students and “Senior Housing” for self-sufficient elderly people.

Finally, Cdp has given the go-ahead toOperation of the Africa Ceiling, a new financial instrument that will allow provide up to 500 million euros by 2025 to support Italian companies operating steadily on the African continent. The program is fits into the framework of the Mattei Plan promoted by the Italian Government and aims to encourage economic cooperation and development initiatives.

New organizational structure of Cdp

During the meeting, the Board of Directors expressed a thanks to Massimo Di Carlo, CDP Business Director since March 2022, who will leave the institute at the end of the month. In addition, a new organizational structure which aims to strengthen the presence of private customers and the Public Administration, with the objective of making the operations of the Cassa Depositi e Prestiti even more efficient.
