Il Third sector, ordered and reorganized by a new law of 2017, is a reality with over 360.000 institutions and about 900.000 employees, which employs over 5,5 million volunteers from North to South and which represents 5% of the Italian GDP, the same share represented from the automotive sector, to make a comparison.

Evolving Non-Profit: a sector that is still very underinsured is worth around 500 million in P&C alone

The Third Sector is still a very underinsured world: 17,5% of institutions confirm that they have not yet signed up for the policies required by law. “A world which, from an insurance point of view, is worth around 500 million euros in Non-Life alone and in which our Company holds a significant market share” says Marconcini.

The survey “Evolving Non-Profit” realized by Cattolica Insurance in collaboration with the CESEN, Center for Studies on Ecclesiastical Bodies and other non-profit bodies of theCatholic University of the Sacred Heart, e Innovation Team was presented today on the occasion of the event “In 4 for you – Knowing, Accompanying, Protecting, Supporting the Non-Profit”, held at the Generali CityLife Tower in Milan.
"It is necessary to strengthen the sustainability of organizations through the search for a balance between appropriate governance choices, organizational structures functional to the attraction of new resources and adequate risk management strategies" it was said during the presentation. “Non-profit organizations and Third sector, adapting to the requests contained in the Third Sector Reform, are experiencing a moment of strong evolution, called to make the decisive step in terms of management professionalism, ability to network and evaluate results.
There are many areas in which insurance coverage is appropriate: from the activity of volunteers and administrators, to assets, also thinking of tools to protect against new risks, such as cyber risk, data protection and forms of insurance welfare.
The survey, based on reading the quantitative data available from Istat and a qualitative analysis carried out through interviews, focus groups and an extensive survey of a sample of around 500 organizations, "intended to map a world affected by profound transformations and understand the challenges it will face,” the statement said. “The set of results acquired has been reworked in the light of three paradigms that represent the aspects on which Non-Profit organizations will have to measure themselves in the future: stability, effectiveness and risk management.
On this occasion, the charity initiative was launched “A hand to those who support” in collaboration with Catholic Foundation to support social inclusion projects with a total donation of 500.000 euros.
