Cassation: the Mediaset and Ruby trials against Berlusconi remain in Milan

The Mediaset and Ruby trials against Silvio Berlusconi remain in Milan. The judges of the Cassation today rejected the request to transfer the two proceedings to Brescia. An application presented by the Cavaliere's lawyers, Nicolò Ghedini and Pietro Longo, on the basis of a "legitimate suspicion" relating to the alleged partiality of the Milanese judges.

Berlusconi had asked the Cassation to be heard, but on April 18 the judges of the Supreme Court rejected his request, explaining that the hearing of a defendant is only possible in extradition trials.

The two proceedings, suspended until now, can then resume. In the Mediaset case, the former Premier is accused of tax fraud for alleged irregularities in the acquisition of TV rights: the trial is in the appeal stage, after Berlusconi was sentenced to 4 years in the first instance, with disqualification from public office for five years. The much better known Ruby trial, on the other hand, sees the Knight accused of extortion and child prostitution.
