Corporate carpooling continues to gain traction. The saving tangible is that of both employees and companies. Not to mention the number of cars removed from road traffic which corresponds to a non-negligible amount of carbon dioxide not released into the atmosphere.

With these same objectives, TIM has decided to promote sustainable mobility among Group workers and has scheduled the launch of the service carpooling, in September, in the three offices of Milan, Rome and Florence (Via degli Estensi in Rome; Viuzzo de Bruni in Florence; Via della Boscaiola in Milan).

The platform that TIM will use will be that of the tested service "Jojob Real Time Carpooling", created by Bringme, winner of the "TIM Challenge for Circular Economy", the initiative recently launched as part of the TIM Open Innovation program, with the aim of bringing out entrepreneurial realities capable of developing innovative solutions for more resource efficient.

TIM carpooling, how it works

TIM aims to disseminate behavior based on a circular economy model that avoids wasting resources. Employees will be able to share the use of their car – normally underused compared to its transport capacity – and the expenses with colleagues who have to reach the same place of work. On the app of the service, it will be possible to view colleagues who have a compatible route, get in touch with them via an integrated chat and book rides by sharing the cost of petrol, any toll booths and parking.

The amount of expenses to be shared will be calculated automatically in a secure way, through a special algorithm based on ACI tables which takes into account the kilometers traveled and the time taken. For each shared journey, it is also possible to obtain an exact calculation of the CO2 saved.

The project represents a valid alternative of sustainable mobility with which to tackle the problem of travel in cities, reduce congestion, reduce pressure on parking and actively combat climate change.

The carpooling service joins the various sustainable mobility options already available for TIM employees, such as public transport passes, company shuttles and the micro-mobility incentive.
