Carpi: here is the second Game Festival

From 30 September to XNUMX October the streets of the center of Carpi will come alive again with games, workshops, demonstrations and installations for children aged two and over, teenagers and adults.

Carpi: here is the second Game Festival

Saturday 30 September and Sunday 1 October the historic center of Carpi (Mo) will host the second edition of the Game Festival, entitled Machinists of Mirages.

Conceived and organized by the Castle of the Boys of Carpi, supported by the Municipality of Carpi with the sponsorship of the Emilia-Romagna Regional School Office, with the contribution of Bper and Conad, the Game Festival will have inventing as its central theme.

In particular, the relationship between invention and technical-scientific thought will be explored following the words of the great English poet William Blake, "what is demonstrated today was once only imagined".

Furthermore, as scientific journalist Andrea Vico – consultant to the Festa del gioco explains, “science is a game. The scientist plays all his life and makes experiments to understand how the world works and improve the relationship between man and nature. Even the child plays, then often stops because the school tends to homologate him (the class is easier to manage) and the family tells him that "playing is not serious stuff". Instead it is more urgent than ever to play and play with science”.

“Scientific knowledge – continues Andrea Vico – is crucial today so that everyone can build their own opinion, independently. And thus give one's contribution, as a citizen, to a truly democratic and respectful society. For a better world we must stimulate young people to think freely and critically about science, technology and the environment".

Once again this year the Game Festival will be able to count on the participation of illustrious guests and associations who have distinguished themselves in the field of scientific research, such as the Golinelli Foundation of Bologna, Andrea Vico, the children's writer Davide Morosinotto, the ludologist and coach of the mind Carlo Carzan, the Tecnoscience Association of Bologna and the Bricks4Kidz company, specialized in STEAM learning, in which logical-scientific thinking and artistic-creative thinking collaborate in close synergy.

Thanks to these contributions, many aspects of the everyday world will be analyzed through the lens of mathematics, chemistry, physics, biology, mechanics and robotics, always with particular attention to playing and learning while having fun.

The Game Festival program is divided into 5 macro-areas:

– Make the Future

Here the public will find chemistry, physics and robotics laboratories managed by the Golinelli Foundation, the large Palestra Allenamente by Carlo Carzan and Sonia Scalco, the Lego workstations by Bricks4Kidz where architectures and mechanical-motorised devices can be built, experiments on the world of science care of Technoscience and many laboratory proposals of the Scuola dei Ragazzi Inventori.

– Play the Present

It is an area where especially the little ones can have fun with the great urban movement game Snug, with the Bakoba, soft interlocking modules with which it is possible to unleash the imagination and with the novelty of the Calafant, architectures and pirate ships in cardboard with which to experience amazing adventures. And finally Lego Island with dozens of traditional Lego kits.

– Poetic architectures

These are three large installations that will characterize the Game Festival, in the name of imagination and invention. The first, Dream fishermen, is an enormous wave of colorful fish, created by the Zaffiria Center and the Boys' Castle, already active in via Paolo Guaitoli during the summer; Atlantis, a labyrinth of giant Lego bricks measuring 280 square meters which will occupy Piazza Martiri during the two days of the festival where children will be able to play, run, jump and get lost and, finally, Mirabilia Animalia, a dreamy installation of fantastic animals at the center of the Courtyard of Honor of Palazzo dei Pio.

– The school of inventor boys

The game festival will again this year see the presence and fundamental contribution of the schools of Carpi. In the last edition there were five, in this second one there are seven. With technical-scientific laboratories for the youngest and for the greatest, ITI Da Vinci, IPSIA Vallauri, Liceo Fanti, ISS Meucci and the Comprehensive Institutes Carpi Centro, Carpi Nord and Carpi 2, will lead to Piazza Martiri and the Cortile d'Onore dozens of laboratories where you can touch some physical, chemical and mechanical phenomena that govern our daily lives.

– x_the school

A section dedicated exclusively to students and teachers with workshops, conferences, in particular the anti-hoax kit conducted by Andrea Vico and meetings on topics dedicated to literary invention by the writer Davide Morosinotto
