Rai fee, exemption: who is entitled to it and what to do

January 31st is the last day to apply the exemption from the Rai 2020 license fee. As he explains the Revenue Agency on its website, in some cases the taxpayer can present a substitute declaration to avoid the charge of 90 euros a year in the electricity bill.

Let's see in detail in which circumstances you are entitled to exemption from the Rai license fee.

RAI FEE 2020 EXEMPTION FOR PEOPLE OVER 75

Those who have reached the age of 75 and have an annual income of less than 8.000 euros cannot pay the Rai license fee. Attention: the threshold refers to the sum of the income of the spouses. Furthermore, it is necessary not to have other cohabitants with their own income, with the exception of domestic collaborators, domestic helpers and carers.

The exemption is valid for the whole of 2020 if the taxpayer has turned 75 by 31 January; if, on the other hand, the birthday falls between February 31st and July XNUMXst, the discount is valid only for the second semester.

To send the substitute declaration, those over 75 can choose one of the following channels:

  • Ordinary mail, in registered mail, without envelope, to the address Agenzia delle Entrate – Provincial Directorate I of Turin – TV License Office – PO box 22 – 10121 Turin (attaching a copy of a document);
  • certified mail to the address cp22.canonetv@postacertificata.rai.it
  • direct delivery to any territorial office of the Revenue Agency.

ELECTRICITY FOR DOMESTIC-RESIDENTIAL USE

In order not to pay the Rai 20202 license fee in the bill, the holders of an electricity user for domestic-residential use must declare that there is no television in any of the homes where the user is activated.

The self-declaration is valid for one year and must be presented via a web application on the Revenue Agency website, using the Fisconline or Entratel credentials.

Alternatively, the form can be sent by registered mail without an envelope (together with a copy of a document) to the address Revenue Agency - Provincial Directorate I of Turin - TV license office - Post office box 22 - 10121 Turin.

Anyone who sends the substitute declaration by 31 January is entitled to exemption for the whole of 2020. Otherwise, for submissions made between 30 January and XNUMX June, the exemption only kicks in in the second half of the year.

    I sent the registered mail in July 2019, but since January, Enel has kept putting it on the bill. I can't get in touch with the right person. What can I do?
