Record heat: Scipio the African will hit Italy until Friday

The "Scipione" anticyclone, a phenomenon of sub-tropical origin, will continue to blow very hot winds over many regions until Friday. At the end of the week, possible thunderstorms in the North will bring back some fresh air.

Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd June will be the hottest days. The temperature peak will be reached, the fault of the "Scipione" anticyclone, arriving from Africa.

The Ministry of Health has raised the alarm to level 3: red and with high risk conditions for 16 municipalities.

Bologna, Bolzano, Brescia, Campobasso, Civitavecchia, Florence, Frosinone, Latina, Milan, Perugia, Pescara, Rieti, Rome, Trieste, Venice, Verona, Viterbo.

The great African heat will therefore envelop Italy at least until Friday, with the maximum peaks between tomorrow and the day after tomorrow: then some relief will arrive, with possible thunderstorms in the North.

Anticyclone Scipio has its roots in Africa Saharan and is a sub-tropical phenomenon that extends for 4000km, up to Eastern Europe up to Finland.

Between today and Friday it will continue to blow very hot air over the Italian regions, where the highest temperatures in Europe will be recorded.
