Prodi is very harsh with Schlein, Meloni and Tajani: "Whoever asks for the vote and then doesn't go to Brussels hurts democracy"

Severe reprimand from the former prime minister against Schlein, Meloni and Tajani but Prodi is disappointed above all by the secretary of the Democratic Party who is even thinking of putting his name in the party symbol, triggering the storm within

Prodi is very harsh with Schlein, Meloni and Tajani: "Whoever asks for the vote and then doesn't go to Brussels hurts democracy"

Those are words as hard as stones that the father of the Olive tree, Romano Prodi, former Prime Minister and former President of the European Commission, has spoken out against the vice of those who run for office European elections knowing that, if elected, he will not go to Brussels but will prefer to remain in the Italian Parliament. “This is how democracy is damaged.” The recipients of Prodi's reprimand are three: Elly Schlein, Giorgia Meloni e Antonio Tajani. But everyone immediately understood that the father of the Ulivo was especially angry with the secretary of the Democratic Party: "These are things that the right does, but the Democratic Party cannot do it." And instead Schlein, even at the cost of splitting the party, not only will she run as leader of the list in the Center and in the Islands, but she wanted to include her name in her symbol, something that in the past she had only done Walter Veltroni but that in 2014 Matteo Renzi, which then took 40% at the European elections, was careful not to do so. Fortunately, at least on this last point, Schlein backed down or was forced to do so. “Apply and then not go to Brussels? This is not the way to serve democracy” thunders Prodi, because “this way the people don't count for anything, they vote for one and then someone else goes”. Holy words which unfortunately have the flavor of Einaudi's "Useless Sermons". But, whatever happens, Prodi deserves only applause.
