An upcoming marriage between Deutsche Boerse and the London Stock Exchange, a union that will also have strong repercussions on Piazza Affari.
The official announcement of the merger between London and Frankfurt is expected next week. The aim is to implement cost synergies in excess of €300 million once the merger is completed.
“Cost synergies will clearly exceed the 300 million euros targeted in the Deutsche Boerse – Nyse merger in 2011,” a source told Reuters, adding that the reason is that the businesses of Deutsche Boerse and LSE are much more complementary.
Initially, according to rumors, the two companies will continue to use all platforms and only after a transition period will the business move to a single implemented and technological platform.
The merger will also lead to a potential cost reduction.
