Stock market, MPS bailout weighs on banks and stock exchanges. Fly Mediaset

The Tokyo Stock Exchange's Nikkei index managed to close flat despite the decline in shares Toshiba - 11,62% who announced a write-down of "several billion dollars" for a US company bought last year by its nuclear subsidiary Westinghouse

To move the Italian price list is once again Mediaset +5,39% to 4,226 euros after a suspension due to excessive increases. The stock was boosted by the news of the annulment of the 51,4 million euro fine imposed by the Antitrust in relation to the assignment of TV rights to the football championship in the three-year period 2015-18. The Lazio Regional Administrative Court canceled the fine, but an appeal to the Council of State is already planned.

In the meantime, the Alfa Romeo group has confirmed that it will present the new three-year industrial plan in London around mid-January, despite the well-known corporate events that have seen Vivendi become the group's second shareholder in recent weeks with 29,94% of the voting rights. Nothing new to report on this front.

Still moved instead the title Telecom Italy, +1,64% in the wake of hypotheses regarding a possible entry of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti into the company's capital, to prevent Vivendi and Vincent Bolloré from selling their Telecom share to Orange, as part of the takeover of Mediaset.

Vola Parmalat +9,73% to 2,82 euros, in line with the total takeover bid launched this morning by Sofil, a company of the Lactalis group which for the part of the capital not yet owned (12,26%) offered 2,8 euros for share, with a premium of 8,5% on the December 23 price. The objective of the offer, according to a note, is to "achieve the revocation of the listing".

The banks moved little after the ECB's decision to raise the request for a capital increase for Mount Paschi (suspended) from 5 billion to 8,8 billion. An institute Board of Directors has been urgently convened. The precautionary recapitalization to fill a capital shortfall of 8,8 billion that emerged with the stress test last July will probably be covered with a Treasury intervention of around 6,5 billion.

The bank has 4,2 billion of subordinated bonds, of which about 2 billion in retail hands. In the meantime, the Treasury would therefore cover the difference between 8,8 and 4,2 billion, i.e. 4,6 billion. Then, on the basis of the compensation mechanism identified with the pre-Christmas decree, it would acquire the shares deriving from the conversion of the retail subordinates, something less than 2 billion assuming that in the meantime a part has passed to institutional investors.

The two groups have signed an agreement for the post-merger, which provides for 2.100 exits and 400 hires.

Sale Saipem +1,75% just a few days after the entry into force of the crude oil producers' cuts. Eni + 0,3%.
