Bonus anti-abandonment devices: how to apply

From Thursday 20 February it is possible to do application for the bonus on anti-abandonment devices that the State has made available to families who have to purchase systems or child seats for the cars in which their children travel. In fact, we remind you that on 7 November 2019 the obligation came into force for those transporting minors under the age of 4 to equip themselves with anti-abandonment devices capable of signaling the presence of the child in the car. From 6 March, anyone who fails to comply will risk hefty fines.

ANTI-ABANDONMENT DEVICES: WHAT TO BUY

Those who already have an "old" car seat are not obliged to buy a new generation one, spending hundreds of euros, but has the ability to buy anti-abandonment devices to integrate with the seat which he already owns. In most cases, these are cushions to be placed on the seat that are activated by the weight of the child. They can be found in physical stores that sell products for the little ones or even online.

The Ministry of Transport has not provided too stringent specifications, but you need to be sure that the device you buy has it certain characteristics:

  • certificate of conformity issued by the manufacturer;
  • automatic activation of anti-abandonment signals (means that the parent does not have to activate the device each time, by connecting it to the cigarette lighter, pressing a button, or performing any other manual action, but the system must start automatically in when the child is placed in the seat)
  • the anti-abandonment system must send visual and audible signals or visual and vibration signals capable of being heard both inside and outside the machine.
  • alternatively, the device must have an automatic communication system that sends messages or calls to the parent's smartphone, warning him of danger.

ANTI-ABANDONMENT DEVICES: THE BONUS

In order to help families, the State has made available a bonus for the purchase of these devices. The amount of the state contribution reaches a maximum of 30 euros and is provided in the form of an electronic shopping voucher associated with the child's tax code. If the chosen device costs less, the amount of the bonus is reduced, if instead it costs more, the excess expense is paid by the family.

To get the bonus you need to submit a specific application and the money received must be spent within one month of the request.

Anyone who wants to take advantage of the bonus better not waste time: the State has made available only 2 million euros, therefore it is probable that not all potential beneficiaries will be able to receive it. When the allocated resources are exhausted, the expense will become totally borne by the family.

HOW TO APPLY

The bonus must be requested by one of the parents or by whoever exercises parental responsibility over the child. The obligation, as mentioned, concerns minors under four years of age.

To apply, you must have the SPID credentials (therefore those who do not have them must hurry and request them too) and register on the Sogei IT platform present on the Sogei website or on that of the Ministry of Transport.

After registering, enter the required data: name, surname and tax code of the child for whom you intend to buy the device. The system will verify the data and grant the sum to whoever is entitled to it.

WHO HAS GIYOU PURCHASED A DEVICE AND YOU ARE ENTITLED TO A REFUND

People who have purchased an anti-abandonment device have the option to request a refund of the expense provided that the request is sent within 60 days of February 20. Also in this case, an application must be submitted on the Sogei IT platform.

In addition to the procedure indicated above, those requesting a refund must attach a copy of the receipt or invoice issued at the time of purchase and provide the Iban coordinates on which to credit the sum. If the request is accepted, the refund is paid within 15 days.

FINES FROM 6 MARCH

The obligation to have an anti-abandonment device started on 7 November. The transport ministry has decided to give families four months to comply with the new rules. From 6 March, however, those who have not yet done so risk hefty fines.

The sanctions foreseen range from at 81 to 326 euros. If you pay within 5 days, the amount is reduced to 56,70 euros. It also provides for the deduction of 5 points from the license.

SITE OF THE MINISTRY IN TILT

As we write, the Ministry of Transport website has gone haywire. Too many accesses and the amount of requests received. Replying to Corriere della Sera, sources from the ministry reassured that “today the platform will only be active for the registration of exhibitors. It will be open to those who want to request the bonus only from tomorrow ".

  3. Hi, alas it is true that people are stressed and risk forgetting their children in the car even if it seems absurd. But since it is now the law, I don't see the reason not to accept it and buy an anti-abandonment device, perhaps on amazon, I found a site where they collect the best anti-abandonment devices available. Also now you can also request the state bonus of € 30 but I don't remember the link. Thanks for the insight.
