Boneyard: Beatrice Borri gives a nod to Pop Art

Colours, installations, light bulbs, writing and signage. Francesca Beatrice Borri's personal exhibition "Boneyard" is full of Pop references, which opened at the Angelica Gallery in the heart of Rome in via di Sant'Agostino 11. The curator is Giuseppe Ussani d'Escobar, with the Patronage of the Angelica Library and the MiBACT. The exhibition organized by Sphaerica and with the support of CSC Vision will remain open until 20 September.

The solo show winks at American Pop art and focuses on the originality of technique and expression of the artist Francesca Beatrice Borri, already selected for the 2018 Rome Biennale. Borri's works are real installations, built with extreme care and freeing the imagination. Light bulbs that light up, acrylic, aluminum are the masters. Provocations for the eyes and the soul.

From the intervention in the catalog by the Curator Ussani d'Escobar: “In the Borri the writings fulfill the function of embodying the charm of American cities, such as Las Vegas, which with their bizarre and eccentric luminosity invite you to get lost in the dream. This enchantment Los Angeles had already exercised on Ed Ruscha and many other Pop artists had been subjugated by New York. Borri expresses himself through collage, a typical method of Pop Art; the play component always emerges and the artist is a tireless player, but also a manipulator of form. In cutting out the writings and illuminating them, Borri activates a stylistic and form choice, an expressive and synthesis choice; the work for her is a field open to exploration and experimentation. Pop Art plays with its cards uncovered, it is an x-ray of reality, but the mystery remains in the game of mirrors and in the smiling open lips.”
