More expensive gas and electricity bills from July XNUMXst

After the decreases in the first two quarters of the year, energy bills start to increase again from 4,3st July. The Electricity, Gas and Water Authority established for the third quarter an increase of 1,9% for electricity and XNUMX% for gas.

Despite the increases, the Authority calculates that the overall savings in the 12 months leading up to the update period remain over 70 euros, almost all of which on the gas bill.

In particular, the electricity bill for the typical family in the period 2015 October 30-2016 September 503 will be approximately 0,6 euros, with a drop of -3% on the year. corresponding to a saving of just 1.068 euros. For gas, on the other hand, the expenditure of the typical family will be 5,9 euros (-67%), with a saving of XNUMX euros.

The trend in the price of electricity is essentially due to the increase in the procurement component, which was partly affected by the upwardly revised estimates for the purchase costs of raw materials in the second half, but above all by the significant growth in dispatching costs ( incurred by the grid operator, Terna, to keep the electricity system in balance).

Gas, on the other hand, was affected by the slight growth in the raw material component and the limited adjustment in the distribution and metering component.

However, the new price increases do not go down well with consumers, who point the finger at speculation on the dispatching market and ask for urgent government intervention.

"These are heavy increases that will have a considerable impact on the pockets of families", given that during the summer the intense use of air conditioners causes peaks in the demand for electricity, says Codacons, which asks the Government to "intervene with urgency by quickly reducing the tax burden on energy, which reached its peak in the last year”.

Federconsumatori and the National Consumer Union are "indignant and incredulous", denouncing the "serious speculation" of the dispatching market and asking the competent authorities to take "severe measures".

Yesterday, on dispatching, the Energy Authority announced that in the last two months "a series of critical issues have emerged in some areas of the country, attributable to the anomalous strategies adopted by various operators on the wholesale electricity market". and that it has already started a prescriptive-sanctioning procedure on this.
