Bitter beer: 5.500 redundancies for AB Inbev after the wedding with Sabmiller

The wedding bill is high and the workers will pay it. The beer giant Anheuser-Busch InBev has announced that, in the three years following the maxi-merger with SabMiller, it will reduce its employees by 3%. In all, around 5.500 workers will lose their jobs. An anonymous source confirmed this to Bloomberg.

The job cuts are part of a $1,4 billion annual savings strategy that AB InBev expects to be able to deliver through the merger. However, the group specifies that the cuts will be limited to some areas and will not include, for example, the division of sales.
