Berlusconi returns to the field: "Italy is on the verge of the abyss, I have to save it"

After last night's summit at Palazzo Grazioli with the big names in the PDL, he lets long hours pass before speaking, but then issues a note: "I cannot allow my country to fall into an endless recessionary spiral. It can no longer go on like this. These are the painful observations that will determine the choices that we will all make together".

Berlusconi returns to the field: "Italy is on the verge of the abyss, I have to save it"

"Italy is on the brink of the abyss: I cannot allow my country to fall into an endless recessionary spiral". Silvio Berlusconi has therefore decided: he is back on the pitch. After the summit at Palazzo Grazioli with the big names in the PDL, he lets long hours pass before speaking, but then faced with versions of that meeting in which he didn't recognize himself even a bit, the former prime minister decides to have his say: " I read on an agency a sentence attributed to me, completely invented and even surreal: 'I'm not applying because you don't want me', a sentence that I would have addressed to my colleagues from the People of Freedom. The reality is the opposite: I am besieged by requests from my parents to announce as soon as possible my return to the field at the helm of the PDL”.

Of course, it's not yet the official and media announcement of his return to the field, but yesterday, late in the evening, the Knight laid the foundations. And he does it with a long note: “The situation today is far more serious than a year ago, when I left the government out of a sense of responsibility and out of love for my country. Today Italy is on the brink of the abyss. The economy - he denounces - is on its last legs, a million more unemployed, the debt is increasing, the purchasing power is collapsing, the tax burden is at unbearable levels. Italian families distressed because they can't pay the Imu. Businesses closing down, construction collapsed, the car market destroyed. I cannot allow my country to fall into an endless recessionary spiral. It can no longer go on like this. These are the painful observations that will determine the choices that we will all make together in the coming days". That is, those that should lead to his new candidacy, resolving the dilemma in which the PDL had plunged in recent weeks.
