Berlusconi: "No primaries to the right"

Il Cavaliere rejects the primaries hypothesis: "To identify the candidates, agreements between the political forces are needed" - "On too many occasions the primaries have proved to be a manipulable tool" - Dissatisfaction among the ranks of Forza Italia and among potential allies.

Berlusconi: "No primaries to the right"

The center-right primary project, feared by many in recent times, already seems to have faded. To put a tombstone on the idea is Silvio Berlusconi, through a note in which the idea of primary is firmly rejected: "I believe that for the identification of candidates for the next administrative elections, the center-right must choose, as has always happened, through agreements between the political forces that compose it".

"On too many occasions - continues the Knight's statement - the primaries have proved to be an extremely manipulable popular consultation tool and not able to express the best candidate among those in the race".

There were many and different reactions to this position taken by Berlusconi, who with his words also disavowed some big names in his party, such as Giovanni Toti and Renato Brunetta, but who, above all, risks displeasing many potential allies, from the League to to the right of Francesco Storace.
