Using the Bancomat instead of the credit (or debit) card to pay fines or taxes, shopping on the web will no longer be taboo. Bancomat spa and Sia have reached an agreement which will allow Bancomat Pay, the new digital payment service, to be made available this autumn.

The two companies announced an agreement on Tuesday under which PagoBancomat holders will not need to make a new card, but the one they already own will be enabled by their bank on Jiffy, Sia's App for transferring money between individuals via smartphones. After integration, it will therefore be possible to pay in stores and on e-commerce, send and receive money in real time from your smartphone simply using your mobile phone number.

It should be emphasized that Bancomat Pay can also be used through the app of your bank or with the Bancomat Pay app. In a few seconds and with your smartphone, you will be able to make money transfers and payments without having to have your physical card with you or enter its PIN.

The agreement between Bancomat and Sia, a company 49,48% owned by Cdp Equity and 17,05% by F2i, is explained in a note, will allow access to new payment services for holders of 37 million PagoBancomat cards, on the basis of the technological solutions already implemented by Sia, in particular to transfer sums of money between private individuals (P2P), purchase goods and services both online and at the points of sale of merchants with PagoBancomat agreements (P2B) and make payments to the Central Public Administration and Local (P2G) through the PagoPA platform.

As mentioned, Bancomat Pay, which will make its debut next autumn, can already be used by around 5 million Jiffy registered users, in more than 2.000 commercial establishments, mainly in large-scale distribution, and on PagoPA for payments to the Italian Public Administration .

“In thirty years of activity we have consolidated the most precious asset, the trust of the market and of people. Starting today, we want to combine all the potential of technological innovation with this heritage, making money transactions ever simpler and more immediate. With Bancomat Pay we intend to take the first step towards entering the world of payment services of the future where not only cash but also the card itself will be dematerialized. Together with the Banks we want to be facilitators and supporters of change and innovation for the country”, commented Alessandro Zollo, CEO of Bancomat spa.

“The strategic agreement with Bancomat and the important digital transformation of the payment instrument most used by Italians represents the fulfillment of a path started by Sia for many years alongside the Italian banking system in the design and implementation of innovative services. We have invested heavily in Jiffy, together with over 130 banks that already use it, and as of today we are making its innovative functions available at ATMs to encourage digitization and make the country's system more efficient", added Nicola Cordone, Deputy CEO of Sia.
