Baby bonus 2018: duration, amount and requirements

Disappointment for those hoping for the 2018 baby bonus. The latest Budget law contains the renewal of the birth allowance - this is the technical name also used by INPS - but modifies it substantially compared to the version in force until 31 December 2017.

The financial aid for children born or adopted this year will only last for the first 12 months after the children's birth or entry into the family. No longer 36, as was foreseen for the three-year period 2015-2017.

In the construction phase of the maneuver there was a lot of talk about the possibility of stabilizing the baby bonus, albeit in the new version reduced to one year. In the end, however, the hypothesis fell through: unless the next government or the new Parliament changes its mind, the measure will no longer be operational for children born or adopted on or after January 2019, XNUMX.

Until then, the rules on amount, requirements and access methods remain the same as always. Here they are.

CHECK AMOUNT

As in the past, the amount of the 2018 baby bonus also varies according to the economic conditions of the family. There are two possibilities:

  • 80 euros per month (960 euros a year) for families with an annual Isee between 7 thousand and 25 thousand euros;
  • 160 euros per month (1.920 euros a year) for families with an annual Isee of less than 7 thousand euros.

PARENT REQUIREMENTS

The parent submitting the application must meet three requirements:

  • Have Italian citizenship or citizenship of a European Union state, or an EU residence permit for long-term residents or a residence card for family members of EU citizens.
  • Have residence in Italy.
  • Living with the son.

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE BABY BONUS 2018

First of all we need the Equivalent Economic Situation Indicator (Isee), the value that certifies the economic conditions of the family. Even those who have recently calculated it must renew it, because the new child must be taken into account. To obtain the ISEE, you must present the Single Substitute Declaration (DSU) to INPS, a document that contains the personal data, income and assets of the family unit.

Once the DSU has been submitted, you can apply for the 2018 baby bonus. The request must be sent to INPS exclusively electronically, only once for each child, through one of the following channels:

  • Web: by accessing thereserved area of the INPS website with the device Pin code.
  • Inps-Inail integrated contact center at the telephone number 803 164 from a landline (free of charge) or on 06 164 164 from a mobile network (costs vary according to the operator and rate plan).
  • Telematic services offered by patronage bodies.

The application must be submitted within 90 days of the birth of the child or of the date of entry of the minor into the family unit.

HOW TO CASH THE BABY BONUS

INPS pays the amount from the month of birth or adoption of the child in the manner that the parent has indicated in the application: domiciled bank transfer, credit to bank or postal current account, postal book or prepaid card with Iban. The chosen means of payment must be made out to the parent who requested the baby bonus.
