Cars: goodbye to the registration document, here comes the single sheet

The long-awaited integration of the responsibilities of the PRA (Public Vehicle Register), managed by the ACI (Italian Automobile Club), and the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), should be part of the public administration reform. A single document will be required for vehicles, resulting in a saving of 39 euros for citizens.

Cars: goodbye to the registration document, here comes the single sheet

- motorists They will have a single document for their vehicle instead of the current two. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Transport Riccardo Nencini: in short, goodbye to the vehicle registration document and vehicle ownership certificate, because the public administration reform should also include the long-awaited integration of the responsibilities of the Public Automobile Registry (PRA), managed by the ACI, and the Department of Motor Vehicles, which should be merged into a single agency within the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport.

Therefore, a single registration document will be issued, resulting in a "€39 savings for citizens." Essentially, each registration or transfer of ownership will cost €61, compared to the current €100. The Antitrust Authority also commented on the issue, calling for the establishment of "a single agency under the supervision of the Ministry of Transport, which would consolidate the functions currently performed by the Ministry of Transport and the Italian Automobile Club (ACI)" with a view to "administrative simplification in the management of the databases themselves."

Integrating the two bodies' responsibilities will reduce costs and put an end to a uniquely Italian anomaly. Only in our country is both documents required—at least for now.
