Coronavirus insurance: all policies and services

From Generali Italia to Cattolica, from Unipol to Axa, via Alleanza, Poste and Intesa Sanpaolo Assicura: here are the measures launched by Italian companies against the coronavirus emergency

Coronavirus insurance: all policies and services

Extension of guarantees, addition of compensation, creation of services and new ad hoc products. Italian insurance companies have responded in various ways to the crisis triggered by the coronavirus. The point was taken by the Insurance Supervisory Institute (IVASS), which in its latest "Report on the trends in the offer of insurance products” draws a map of the measures adopted by companies against Covid 19.

She was among the first to move Cattolica Insurance, which on 3 March launched "Active Business NONStop", a policy which, in the event of closure imposed by the Authorities, provided businesses with immediate support of one thousand euros per day for a maximum of 15 days. Of course, since he arrived the government decree on mandatory closures, the product placement has been suspended.

In the event of hospitalization in intensive care due to the coronavirus, those who subscribed to the "Immagina Benessere" policy of Generali Italy (in the solution that provides for lump sum compensation for surgery) or the "Grandi Cure" option of the Alleanza Assicurazioni "Semplice" policy will receive an indemnity equal to 10% of the insured capital. In addition, the two companies recognize Covid 19 patients a daily diary for hospitalization and convalescence.

As far as entrepreneurs are concerned, those who are insured with a Generali Italia Commerce policy (which provides for the daily business interruption allowance) will benefit for three months of a free extension to cover the government mandated closure.

Alleanza Assicurazioni then raised it from 65 to 75 years the maximum insurable age for sickness coverage.

Axa Insurance and Axa Mps Damages they chose instead of double the daily hospitalization allowance for health customers who are infected with the coronavirus, while Unipol, Intesa Sanpaolo Assicura e Post have extended the guarantees of health policies free of charge customers test positive for Covid 19 and, in the case of Poste Italiane, also for its employees who have joined the Group's health fund. The same measure of exemption to customers has been taken by Meet Insurance on the guarantees of the UniCredit My Care policy. Unipol also acknowledges the daily allowance also to policyholders forced into quarantine in their homes.

In other cases, the companies have launched initiatives that do not provide for insurance coverage. It is the case of "legal office” opened by The , a company of the Generali Italia group, which offers a first free consultation on the various topics related to the pandemic (from smartworking to privacy, but not only). Advice, of course, takes place over the phone or via videoconference.

Axa, on the other hand, until April 18 offers free to all customers a consult with a general practitioner through the My Axa app, while anyone with a Unipol health policy can take advantage of the service coronavirus medical advice offered by the Unisalute Medical Operations Centre.

Finally, IVASS specifies that, in the travel sector, in some cases the guarantees have been extended to cover costs and penalties for lost reservations after the blockade of the airports.
