Apple withdraws some apps from the App Store: data security at risk

Apple has pulled some products from the App Store over security concerns. The Cupertino giant feared that they could compromise the private or sensitive information of users. The company confirmed this in a note, without however specifying how many apps have been deleted.

Apple has spoken of problems with certain apps that install "root certificates", digital certificates used for example by browsers to verify identities when connecting.

In particular, they can be used to block ads within apps. Apple explained that they can potentially be used by hackers to intercept data traffic and therefore steal confidential information. No violations have been reported so far.

Apple is deeply committed to protecting your privacy and security. We have removed from the App Store some apps that install certified roots that allow user data to be monitored” and therefore “to compromise information security”.
