Alitalia, the brand goes to auction: starting from 290 million

The race to win the brand officially begins Alitalia. The extraordinary commissioners of the former national airline have published a text in various newspapers to invite interested parties to formulate an offer.

"As part of the extraordinary administration procedure of Alitalia Sai - reads the notice - the extraordinary commissioners intend to proceed with the sale of the Alitalia brand" and the basic tender price is fixed at 290 million euro.

If in the first phase of the tender no offers equal to at least the starting price arrive, we will move on to the second phase, which provides for the possibility of submitting even lower offers. In case of further failure, the brand will be sold "without procedural constraints". If, on the other hand, more valid binding offers arrive, we will move on to the relaunch procedure.

As for timing, applications for admission to the data room must be submitted between 12 noon tomorrow, Saturday 18 September, and midnight on 30 September. The data room will then be open on September 20th.

for binding offers, however, the deadline is set at 4 October.

The Alitalia brand "will be made available to the contractor by 31 December 2021", but the extraordinary commissioners will in any case be allowed, even after the sale of the Brand, to use the name "Alitalia in extraordinary administration" (not the Alitalia logo) for everything "pertaining to the activities of the extraordinary administration procedure, as well as", pending the respective transfer procedures - for the completion of the activities carried out by the corporate compendiums 'Alitalia Handling' and 'Alitalia Maintenance', which will be so named in the context of these procedures and the company Alitalia Loyalty will be allowed to keep the term 'Alitalia' in the company name and in the products related to the loyalty program it manages until 30 June 2022".

Companies of any nationality can apply to be admitted to the data room, provided they have a net worth of at least 200 million at the date of submission of the application and have an air transport operating license or an aircraft operator certification.
