Suez eases its position in Acea taking advantage of a particularly favorable market phase. The French group has in fact 4% of the shareholding sold, as part of an operation related to budget management and the valorization of its assets.

The decision comes at the end of a significant rally in Acea shares, which has gained approximately 35% over the last twelve months and a further 10% since the beginning of the year. This performance provided the ideal context for targeted profit-taking. The operation resulted in a accounting capital gain, confirming careful timing aligned with market trends.

Suez remains a major shareholder

Despite the transfer, Suez does not scale back its role strategic. The group maintains a share of the 19,3 %, confirming itself second largest shareholder of Acea and preserving a central role in the balance of the Roman multiutility.

The operation, therefore, does not change the control structure or the overall balance. Rome Capital remains firmly in the lead with 51%, while Suez continues to be the main industrial shareholder. The remaining capital is distributed between the market, with a share of over 20%, and Francesco Gaetano Caltagirone's participation, just over 5%.

Industrial partnership unchanged

The move on capital does not affect operational relationships between the two entities. The existing industrial collaborations remain in place, starting with the waste-to-energy plant project in Rome's Santa Palomba district, where Suez is involved in the consortium.

The French group continues to strengthen its presence in the Italian waste market. A process already underway with theacquisition of the majority of Ecosistem, a company active in the treatment and recovery of industrial waste, which consolidates its position along the environmental supply chain.

Global strategy and environmental focus

The Acea transaction is part of the broader strategic plan of Suez, a group that has been active in environmental services for over 160 years. With 40.000 employees in 40 countries, the company focuses on innovative solutions in the water and waste sectors, supporting customers and local communities in the transition to low-emission models.

In 2023, Suez provided drinking water to 57 million people and sanitation to over 36 million, while also generating 7,7 TWh of energy from waste and wastewater. revenues they reached 8,9 billion euros, confirming a solid industrial dimension that finds Italy as one of its development markets.
