Stock markets rose sharply on June 12th amid anticipation of an agreement on Iran and sparks from the SpaceX price: a new record for Milan

A lively Friday on the stock markets despite the US-Iran trade wobble and the largest IPO in history. Piazza Affari reached a new record high of 51.497 points, following in the footsteps of STM and the banks.

The last trading session of the week is characterized by SpaceX's record-breaking IPO and signs of peace between the US and Iran, although it should always be taken with caution. The picture, however, means that all Western stock markets are doing well, especially the European ones: the Nikkei index in Tokyo had given the "go-ahead" with +2,8%, then Milan +2% above 51.000 points with a new record, Paris +1,8%, Frankfurt +1,6%, London +1,5%, Dow Jones +1%, S&P 500 +0,8%, Nasdaq Composite Index +0,7%. It is on the Nasdaq that SpaceX debuts, with a $1.800 billion valuation.

It's SpaceX's day on the Nasdaq. Other AI stocks are doing well.

Founded in 2002 by Elon Musk, in addition to rockets into space (it is a private company and has launched more than any country in the world) SpaceX bases its success on Starlink, its mega-constellation of broadband satellites that provides high-speed internet to 164 countries, and on Artificial Intelligence through its Colossus data centers and the Grok AI modelAmong the most traded stocks today, only Tesla and Microsoft are slightly down, while noteworthy gains include Sandisk (5,6%), AMD (5,6%), Marvell (2,3%), Intel (5%), and Qualcomm (4,9%). Amazon is the worst performer among the historical big names, falling 1,4%. Even Bitcoin is resurgent, gaining 2,4% above $64.000.

European stock markets soar, with Piazza Affari setting a record with banks

The Ftse Mib closes at +2% and The BTP-Bund spread is reported to have significantly decreased today to 74 basis points, with the yield on the 10-year BTP at 3,74%. Speaking of government bonds, the Ministry of Economy and Finance has set the minimum guaranteed rate of first BTP Italia Yes at 1,60% per annum: issuance starts on June 15th. The stocks that are driving Piazza Affari to very high peaks are mainly financial ones, with the exception of Buzzi which is the best of all with +5,7% and Stm +4,5%. Then Mediobanca +4,6%, Intesa Sanpaolo +4,3%, Unipol +4,3%, Unicredit +4,1%, MPS +4%Luxury stocks bucked the trend: Moncler was the worst performer on the FTSE MIB, gaining 3,75%, while Brunello Cucinelli was down 1%. Diasorin, Avio, and Eni also lost significant losses.

Commodities: Oil prices fall below $90, gas below €47

The clearings between the US and Iran, although still to be verified, are causing the price of oil to deflate significantly today: Both WTI Crude Oil and Brent lost more than 3%, reaching 84 and 87 dollars a barrel respectively, which for Brent is the lowest since early March, and therefore over three months. Gas is also taking a hit: the European TTF fell 6% today, falling from 50 to less than 47 euros per megawatt hour. Gold and silver, on the other hand, saw a small surge, but the percentage is insignificant: Gold regains $4.200 an ounce, silver again surpasses $67 an ounceSince the beginning of the year, the two metals have lost 2,2% and 5% of their value respectively.
