Whirlpool, Guidi asks to freeze the Indesit plan

During today's meeting at Mise, the head of economic development, Federico Guidi, he allegedly asked the CEO of Whirlpool Italy, Davide Castiglioni, by not consider the plan immediately enforceable which should lead to the closure of some Indesit factories (an Italian company acquired by the American group) and hundreds of redundancies.

“For us, the plan is only a starting point – Guidi would have said -, I therefore consider it revisable and for this reason I ask the company not to consider it executive”. This was reported by union sources.

By re-presenting the guidelines of the plan, Castiglioni would have reconfirmed his willingness to negotiate without preconditions, but would also have asked to set a time limit of six months for the negotiations.

Also present at today's meeting are the president of the Campania Region, Stefano Caldoro, the undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour, Teresa Bellanova, and representatives of Fim, Uilm and Fiom. The main issue remains the fate of the Carinaro (Caserta) plant: Whirlpool intends to close it and for the unions the revocation of this decision is a decisive condition for continuing the negotiations.
