WhatsApp, the most used messaging app in the world and part of the Meta group, is about to introduce new features to enhance the security and privacy of users. WhatsApp: Username and Pin are coming
WhatsApp is about to implement a username system, similar to that already adopted by other platforms such as Telegram. An update that will allow users to register using a username instead of a phone number. Why is this important? Using a username allows you to maintain your private phone number and limit sharing to only selected people. This is a particularly useful measure for those who use WhatsApp for professional purposes, for those who sell and exchange items online, or for those who want to contact someone just once, such as to organize a trip or an appointment. In addition, reduces the risk of receiving spam and unwanted conversations, better protecting user privacy.
In addition to the username, WhatsApp will also introduce a security system based on a Pin code. Users will need to set a four or six digit code which will be required for anyone who wishes to start a conversation with them without being in their contact list.
The Pin will serve to prevent strangers or malicious people from sending messages without the user's consent. An additional protection tool against scams and abuses that exploit the messaging platform.
What is Privacy Checkup and how does it work?
Il “Privacy Checkup”, instead, is a new WhatsApp feature designed to simplify the management of privacy settings. It is currently being tested for some Android users and will soon be available for iOS as well.
The goal of this new feature is to guide users in the configuration of security and privacy settings, allowing for easier and more detailed management of personal information and visibility options. To access the Privacy Checkup, users will have to open WhatsApp settings and select the new dedicated section. They are four main areas:

When will Privacy Checkup arrive?
