Web tax changes again: from 6 to 3%, but not on e-commerce

The web tax is done, even if the rate is reduced e it does not apply to e-commerce. This is what emerged from the changes brought by the Budget commission to the 2018 maneuver, in particular by incorporating one of the 12 amendments presented by the rapporteur for the maneuver, Francesco Boccia (Pd)

In particular, the tax on Internet giants that make profits in Italy (despite having their registered offices elsewhere in Europe) will exist, but is reduced from 6 to 3%. “With the 3% tax on a different tax base, we collect around 190 million euros,” commented Boccia.

The other amendments concern, for example, the change to the rules on the postal shipment of parcels: there will be an obligation for the Italian Post Office to carry out the universal postal service also for parcels and in any case for parcels up to 5 kg and no more than two. Another changes the obligation for the privacy guarantor to define the rules for the protection of personal data in digital format.

And then the changes introduced the first tax recognition of Fintech, i.e. new financial services created on peer-to-peer digital platforms.
