Auto Sales: Toyota is confirmed as the queen in 2014

Behind the Japanese group are Volkswagen and General Motors – The German group exceeds, like Toyota, the 10 million mark of cars sold – General Motors stops just below

Auto Sales: Toyota is confirmed as the queen in 2014

Toyota also maintains the primacy on the podium in the auto sector in 2014. The Japanese group confirms its position as world leader in the automobile sector, reaching double figures for the first time. I am indeed over 10 million commercial vehicles sold in the past year. In detail, Toyota sold 10,23 million cars and commercial vehicles last year (+3%) maintaining the advantage over Volkswagen which is confirmed in second place.

The German company also exceeds the threshold of 10 million vehicles sold for the first time. Volkswagen sold 2014 million cars in 10,14 with a 4% increase in sales. On the lowest step of the podium is General Motors with 9,92 million.

For 2015, Toyota expects a 1% decline. According to the Japanese group, car sales at the end of 2015 should reach 10,15 million. The downturn foreseen by Toyota for the current year is primarily attributed to the subsidiary Daihatsu, which mainly produces small cars for the Japanese domestic market, but slower growth in China and stagnation in Brazil and Europe will also weigh.

The sale of 10 million cars is a goal that Volkswagen aimed to achieve by 2018. Having reached the target 4 years early, the German giant will now focus on strengthening its position on the Chinese market and recovering on the American market.
