Valtur closes the growing summer season

For the Italian leader in the management of tourist resorts, the 2016/17 financial year closed with over 1 million visitors, between the winter and summer seasons, with an increase of 13% compared to the previous year on a like-for-like basis and confirmed the growth trend started by the new Valtur management.

The closing of the summer period represents an opportunity for Valtur to take stock of the season that has just ended and last year's results.

For the Italian leader in the management of tourist resorts, the 2016/17 financial year closed cwith over 1 million visitors, between the winter and summer seasons, with an increase of 13% compared to the previous year on a like-for-like basis and confirms the growth trend started by the new Valtur management.

The total turnover for the year, also including ancillary revenues, is approximately 86 million euro, an increase of +7% on the previous year; in particular, the summer season marks an important growth in core revenues which, on a like-for-like basis, grow by 30%. The growth occurred both in terms of volumes, and in fact iThe occupancy rate of the Resorts recorded an increase of +16%, but also by price with an average revenue per presence growing by 20%.

comments Elena David, managing director and general manager of Valtur: “These are encouraging figures that confirm the effectiveness of the strategies adopted. Valtur is changing its skin: in contrast with the previous managements, we aim at a clientele sensitive above all to the quality of the service, rather than the mere variable price. We want to bring value by offering a unique holiday experience”.

A mention for the performances obtained in Sardinia (+56% of revenues), where Valtur operates with the three resorts Torre Chia, Colonna Beach and Tanka. The latter in particular has achieved the best results of the last 5 years despite the discontinuity of management. 

Best performance also for the Valtur Favignana, which recorded a +98% increase in turnover, a significant contribution to the development of the territory also recognized by local administrations with the "Excellence of the Egadi Islands" award. 

With reference to the sales channels, the business from Online Travel Agency, a new channel for Valtur, launched in April 2017 which, with just 4 months of sales, represents 8% of revenues and is destined to grow especially in foreign markets where Valtur has not yet entered. 

The historic relationship with the traditional travel agency channel continues, which continue to represent a privileged partner for Valtur and to which important promotional efforts were dedicated during the current year.

As regards the renewal of the structures in the exercise, Valtur has invested 8 million euros of CAPEX as part of a broader enhancement plan and progressive modernization of the resorts, an important point of the new Valtur strategy, which has seen particular attention to the room area, with new TV equipment and duvets, and to the buffet area with the launch starting from Valtur Tanka with a new fresher and more modern image and important interventions also of a structural nature.

The closing year brought on the one hand more appearances on the international front, with a increase in the segment of foreign Tour Operators by 10%, on the other it saw the entry of Valtur in the business-congress sector, with the establishment of a new division dedicated to the MICE world (meetings, incentives, conventions & events) and the creation of a tensile structure for large events , the Tanka Pavilion which becomes organic to the structure. This will allow for the extension of the facility's seasonality and the influx of new market segments.

“We are a veteran company but we work with the energy and spirit of a start-up!” concludes Elena David 10 months after taking office at the top of the company. “The work of these months has been concentrated on the need to reverse the negative trend of the previous management focusing primarily on the repositioning of the brand. The results of the season highlight the commercial recovery even if some inherited structural problems still need to be overcome. I am sure that our commitment and the professionalism of the team will allow us to achieve important goals".
