After the bombs in New York, new bombs were found at the Elizabeth train station in New Jersey. One of the bombs, which was inside a backpack along with four others, exploded shortly after half past midnight (6:30 in Italy) as a robot from an FBI bomb squad tried to defuse it, the mayor of Elizabeth said , Christian Bullwage. Nobody was injured.

According to CNN, the investigators then found three other bombs connected to each other with wires. Nbc News instead reports that according to several police officials they fear that a terrorist cell may be at work in the New York and New Jersey area.

Mayor Bollwage clarified that no cell phones or time trigger devices were found near the bombs. The backpack was found by two garbage collectors, who immediately raised the alarm, after having glimpsed some pipes in the package from which electric wires were leaking.

Meanwhile, five people were allegedly arrested during the investigation into the explosion of the device which in New York caused the wounding of 29 people. The arrests were made by the FBI at a checkpoint near the Verrazano Bridge, which connects Brooklyn to Staten Island. The five, who were returning from New Jersey to New York's JFK airport, had weapons in their cars.
