Bad news from the US economy. L'Fed Chicago National Activity Index (CFNAI) it recorded a worsening between March and April, going from -0,23 to -0,53 points.
The three-month moving average in the same period stood at -0,04 in the previous month, from +0,05 in March. The CFNAI index is an average calculated on the basis of 85 indicators which reflect the state of health of national economic activity. Meanwhile, futures point to a cautious start on Wall Street.
As for the Fed, the debate on the possible exit strategy of the American Central Bank from the quantitative easing measures is still taking place. The problem could be solved just this week. President Ben Bernanke is expected to provide an update to Congress on the state of the economy.
