Usa, economy accelerates in the third quarter (+2,5%). The boost from exports

The preliminary data of the US gross domestic product confirms the expectations of analysts and removes the specter of a double-dip recession: growth in the third quarter was 2,5% thanks to exports, government spending and consumption.

In particular, consumption rose by 2,4%, beating expectations against a 0,7% recorded in the second quarter. Companies' expenses for equipment and software also grew sharply, rising by 17,4%, the largest increase in 12 months.

The official GDP figure for the second quarter also improved, rising to +1,3% compared to the preliminary figure of +1%. At the beginning of 2011, growth had stood at +0,4% while in the last quarter of 2010 it had been +2,4%.
